The Challenges of Metempsychosis and Reincarnation: An Outline of Central Issues in Igala Kingdom, Nigeria

One of the most important areas of philosophy is that of the relationship the life after death. Quite often this has become a very important issue in the life of Igala people. They have an allowed interest in the concept of metempsychosis and reincarnation. If we cannot prove the claims of this belief, is it nevertheless reasonable to believe these claims? For example, if even if we do not have deductive proof for their existence in reality, is it nevertheless reasonable to believe that the concept of metempsychosis and reincarnation exist? These are justifiable issues of discourse in this paper, and that they are critically analysed in the anthropocentric concept of the Igala people, in Nigeria. The Igala people under the plight of anthropological studies reveals a widespread and ancient sense of immortality, by burying food and clothes for their dead to use, so that they would not be locking in the next life. Considerably, it is under this panoply that we seek to use this paper to critically appraise the concept of metempsychosis and reincarnation in Igala kingdom, to see whatever they are based in the memories of their loved ones or actually have a conscious existence where the individual continues to exist.
